The Best Stand stood on the western side of the Boulevard, Hull FC's home from 1895 to 2003, facing across the pitch toward the Threepenny Stand, the wooden terrace that held the bulk of the club's vocal support and took its name from its original three-old-pence admission price. Set close to Hessle Road and Hull's docks, the Best Stand gave spectators a rare vantage point in an industrial part of the city, with the masts and waterlines of moored ships visible above its roofline on clear days.

Supporters came to regard the stand's name with a degree of affectionate irony. The Boulevard was never a showpiece ground and the Best Stand, like the rest of the ground, was built for function rather than comfort. Even so, it served Hull FC through some of the club's greatest occasions, including the record crowd of 28,798 for a Challenge Cup tie against Leeds in March 1936 and the visit of the touring "Invincibles" Australian side in 1982, when 16,049 packed into the ground.

Hull FC left the Boulevard for the new Kingston Communications Stadium in January 2003. The old ground closed in 2009 and was demolished in 2010, taking the Best Stand with it after more than a century of service.
